From "Playbill Online", November 19, 1996:

Meryl Streep and other film and theatre notables will honor
Christopher Reeve in "A Magical Evening" at the Waldorf-Astoria, Nov.
19. The evening, which will have a circus theme, will be a benefit
for the American Paralysis Association.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided by David Shiner and
Bill Irwin, the creative team for Broadway's silent masterwork, Fool
Moon. Glenn Close is expected as a guest, as are Tim Robbins and
Susan Sarandon.

Reeve, best known as Superman but also a regular at Broadway's Circle

show jumping horse. Reeve's other roles include "Polixenes" in a NY
Shakespeare Festival production of A Winter's Tale in 1988. Meryl
Streep recently participated in a reading of Eve Ensler's Necessary
Targets.

The 7:30 PM event takes place at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on Park
Ave. and 49th St. in Manhattan.
